Ghillie suits

I don't use a true ghillie, I do often use one of a couple camo 3D type long parka's. I like the 3D parka's alot as they do seem to break up one's outline more so than regular camo wear. I beleive the 3D allows just a little more movement, say to ease the rifle into position, than regular clothing. Especially if the wind is blowing a bit. I think if you use the SEARCH feature you'll find quite a bit of discussion regarding ghillie's. The main thing is movement. Many times I wear drab colored Carhart clothing or something similar, and really as long as you aren't moving too much or at the wrong time, that's generally good enough.

I have a 3D camo top and bottom that I weaved Jute cord into . It's a mix between ghillie and 3D camo and makes for a lightweight, compact, very stashable camoflauge system that works very well.

.. I just started using an "ultralight" ghillie from Rancho Safari.. I'm very pleased with it.. It's only 3 pounds and it rolls up neatly with 2 integrated straps that have D rings for a carry strap attachment.. These guys seem to have thought it out pretty good.. It fits like a big coat with a hood.. Good luck.. d:^) JiNC

I noticed Cabelas has a lightweight ghille suit that looks like it might work...

If you are talking about the mini it comes with a hood, and seems to work good. I'll be using it again this spring.

That Bushrag Ultralite Long Jacket looks good! I was looking at the long jackets as opposed to the regular jackets so there is a little more concealment when sitting down calling. With the long jacket movement probably wouldn't be as cumbersome as it could be with the full-length or coverall ghille suits? Maybe?

find catfish king's post on Hawking by request, go to his page , and click on how to make a ghille suit, its got more info there than you can read in one sitting on everything about ghillies.

btw is there even a search feature anymore?

I have one of the full length ghillies by Rancho Safari. I have had it for a number of years. Excellent concealment, a little smelly, and be careful of briars and fences. I have lost many pieces of burlap due to fences and briars. I almost always wear mine when we have no snow which has been almost all of this winter.
