Glock 26 or Glock 27?

After owning and shooting many of the Glock Models I would suggest that you go with the G27 or G33 - unless you are strictly going to be shooting 9mm. I say this because with those 2 models you have the ability to shoot 9mm, .40 and 357SIG at the shooting range - all within the same platform. To go down to 9mm you will need a barrel and mag change. To shoot .40 or 357SIG it's just a simple barrel swap. I would base that decision on what caliber you want to be your every day carry and keep that model as stock as possible. If your going to use 9mm as every day carry I would go with a G26 and pick up a G27/G33 later for fun at the range. I say this for reliability reasons as I feel you shouldn't modify the extractor of a carry gun, which you would need to do on a G27/G33 to shoot 9mm "reliably". If your going to carry .40S&W or 357SIG the G27 or G33 will be just fine as this only requires a factory barrel swap (the .40/357SIG mags are identical). I also prefer Pearce pinky extensions on all of the sub-compact models I have owned.

For me, I started with the G26 many years ago but quickly moved up to the G27 as I started carrying a G22 at work. I never thought I would want a Glock, let alone in .40 caliber, until I was forced to train and use one daily for work. After thousands of rounds at the range I started to really enjoy the .40S&W along with the simplicity and reliability of the Glock platform.

Never realizing how much I would enjoy the 357SIG, I stayed away from it based on what others had told me and what I read online. After leaving my part time LE job along with a range trip with a buddy who shot the .357SIG, I realized I was missing out on another fun caliber and went to the G31 and a G33 as my daily carry. I've owned Sigs, Taurus, Ruger and Berettas along the way and ended up full circle right back to the Glock. I know Glock isn't for everyone, but I just find a comfort in it that I don't seem to have with other brands.

This past year I finally migrated to the 10mm (which I was also very hesitant to try) and have really enjoyed it as well. I started with a G29 and caught the 10mm bug. I really enjoy the 10mm along with all of it's possible caliber conversions and custom loadings. Presently, along with my wife, I carry a G20 every day and also custom load for everything we own and shoot - which helps to keep costs down. I still use Glock conversion barrels as well - but in 9x25 Dillon, .40S&W and 357SIG. So far, I've gone away from the 9mm - but you never know what might happen in the future. Besides, who wouldn't love 16 rounds of 10mm on their hip?

It just goes to show you that what you lean towards today may change tomorrow - so try to look a bit into the future and try to plan accordingly. I've bought, sold and traded my way up to the 10mm and luckily for me, my wife has been following right along in my footsteps. If you would have asked me about the big 10 just a year ago I would have said "whats the big deal about the 10mm"?. Today I would say "why go back"? It's a sick addiction ..........
