If you go to Glock Talk, there are modifications you can make to a Glock trigger and still keep it very reliable...
I changed some springs and polished all of the moving parts in my competition guns and they all worked reliably and were very smooth...
I'm not sure about a comparison to a 1911 since there are a lot of modifications you can make to them as well...They just have more moving parts, in a different configuration..
