Gloves for skinning

My best friend is a dentist and he keeps me supplied with latex exam gloves.

Here in Kansas, we have a high incidence of tularemia, which the coyotes can contract from eating cottontails. The symptoms of tularemia are not very fun, and I was advised by a vet friend of mine to use gloves when working with either 'cats or coyotes!

Don't know if you have a Costco around you or not but they have 2 boxes of 150 each of Nitrile gloves for $14.95. Come in S, M, and L sizes. Been using them for a couple of years now. Most places are selling them $14.95 for 1 box of 100.

"What do ya'll wear for gloves while skinning? I hate it when I put the piece of pizza to mouth and smell stinky coyote instead of pepperoni, ya know?"

Easy fix, use coyote pepperoni on the pizza, gives it pizzazz.

Those are the gloves I use.

I use those blue medical latex gloves that come in a box of 100 and they have a little texture to them for better gripping and work great.

Most any rubber glove is better than nothing. I use the nitrile cause they last a little longer. With all the diseases possible I would definitely use something.

I go to Walmart and get the purple nitrile gloves for around $5-6 a box, they will last longer then most rubber gloves out there and they are cheap. I don't touch any critter without some sort of glove on. good luck and happy trapping.
