waited for the Brown truck today now waiting for night fall to field test, right off it ranged known distance on phone poles to 235 and a school buss out to 635, the adapter for the PVS/MX160 is a slips on tight not unlike the 3x magnifier, but it does mount to the range finder with 3 set screws pretty solid this is nice as you can scan with the monocular and then slip on and range when a target is acquired reads in M or Y and will return last 10 reads advertised good to 1500 meters if it give me 600+ at night on hogs I will be happy

the problem with hogs at night has always been ranging! you can reliably use a recital on coyotes if you have a steady rest because they are a general size weight ratio, Hogs are 4lbs to 400lbs and NV gives no depth perception through a scope or monocular. I would love a Wilcox Raptor range finder but just don't see it any time soon.

the Newcon 1500 LRM was 315. on eBay and the mount for the PVS14/MX160 was an additional 265 not out of line for optic mounts so for less than $600 I have night vision capable range finding and so far it had read 655, known distance on a shed, going to try some cattle and a grass farm with irrigation a tire every 100 yards out to 1000 to see how far it works at night and how small a target it will pick up will be targeting truck tires

one note it will not read the numbers with additional IR light on, washing them out, not that big a problem at distance get a reading kill the IR and read the range

well under a full moon I ranged several different structures farm equipment, hay bales, cattle tractor tires on a irrigation system (note they are 53 yards apart) telephone poles, brush, trees and tree lines.

was pretty pleased with the results, farthest cow ranged was bedded down in tall grass and got a reading of 725, farthest hay bale 807 tree line 875. single tree 560, after you passed 600 it got a little finicky and required a very steady hold but to 600 not a problem off hand on most targets.

the 7x of the LRM was plenty of power, focusing is a little tricky as you have to focus the target in the range finder and the image in the PVS and this may require a little time to get the hang of if you want speed , there is a little slop in the focus ring on the LRM so that doesn't help matters. I just left it focused for 600 and didn't worry about the clarity of the image for ranges short or beyond that

for a $300 range finder it preformed very well, in the past I have spent more on range finders and gotten less performance. being able to adapt the PVS14 is a bonus even if it did cost almost as much.

I can see using it a good bit on stands in open pastures getting ranges on temporary land marks such as hay bales and farm equipment. it will be nice to know how far that windmill is or if I pick up a heat source 1/2 to the tree line and the tree line ranges 800, this should increase our first shot hits on hogs as well as coyotes.

well till I can afford a Wilcox Raptor this is going to fill the bill

found a way around the IR washing out the display #s, after taking a reading just look at the sky, and they show right up, quick and easy fix to that issue, went last night and made a few stands, it was nice to range the surrounding before I started calling.

I think I am going to have to invest in another range finder with black led display as well. Went out last night and had a yote
Come in and picked him up at around 800yds with Simrad. Wanted to wait him out for a closer shot and he came in to around 500yds. I messed around trying to paint my range finder laser on him or the area to get a solid range and there just wasn't a solid enough terrain feature to see my laser beam on. Got 450yd a few times so went with it a sent the mail. He leaped and dove into the creek. Not sure of a connection but didn't hear an impact so chalking it up to bad ranging. My fusion has lit reticle that is far too bright for my 14 to tandem like this. Going after another solution like yours I'd say.

had trouble last night with mine at 450? hard to see the range finder laser to tell if getting a correct reading,

maybe a Wilcox is the only way out?

Why do you need to see the beam? Look at the aiming reticle and shoot the laser. Should be no different then the way you do it with naked eye
