Good 1-4x for AR

I'm in the market for a good 1-4x for an AR, I'd really like an illuminated dot and have narrowed it down to either a Burris XTR or the new Vortex Viper 1-4x but at those prices, $675 or $499 I'm coming to the conclusion that I can probably live with out the illuminated dot.

Any suggestions for a quality 1-4x without the dot?

I just got a Hawke Endurance 1.25-4.5x24 L4 with ILL. dot 30mm haven't sighted it in yet but I think I'm going to like it.
SWFA $324.95

Look at Millet DMS--30mm,1-4,illuminated.You can find them for around $300.00.I see no need to spend a lot of money on a low power scope.I'm a Leupold man to the core but $400 to $600 for a 4X scope is too much.

+1 for the Millet DMS.....very decent scope for the money. Actually, I think most places will sell it for closer to $200.

Another vote on the millet.

I used mine on my Rem 788 44 mag for a dear season. I then switched it to my AR. I am very happy with it. It has been on the ar for a couple years now and has taken a couple solid hits without any problems.

I bought my scope used for $175, mount was $65 I think...I will never get rid of it and would buy another one if I needed another low power scope.

I am running a Bushnell Elite 3200 1.5x4.5x32mm Firefly Rifle Scope on my 16" Bushmaster M4 ORC. I have had this scope on my Bushmaster since day one with zero problems.

In South Dakota Electronic Reticle Scopes fall under our spotlight law and as such can only be used from sunrise to sunset. The Bushnell Elite 3200 Firefly Riflescope is not electronic but rather simply shining a flashlight into the eye piece illuminates the special reticle that glows a soft green.

I would call this a Tri Plex Reticle as there are 3 different thicknesses of crosshair. The outter two thicknesses of crosshair are the only thing that illuminates though.
