I use a set of wool gloves. They are cheap. I get the pair with the mitten end that flip back. Keeps my fingers warm and allow you to flip open to my fingers. These have been my preferred hunting gloves for cold weather. Can buy em for under 20 dollars.

i have yet to find the "perfect" pair of golves, but the ones i think are the best right now, are either some wool or fleece golves,
or a pair of duck hunting gloves. they have good insulation and some are maid of gore tex so no water or wind can get in, but they also can be bulky

I do the same thing with a light weight liner for added warmth. If it is real cold I throw a hand warmer in the mitton where it flips open to help keep the fingers warm.

I've got some Mitten type that I used to use on a motorcyle that has the thumb and index finger separate for operating various controls and levers.... They work well and as long as your trigger guard is large enough to let them in easily, you can still feel the trigger if needed...They are not real heavy or thick...

I've thought about modifying them to allow the tip to fold back, but then, I'd have to keep another lightweight glove under the mitten..

I've ridden in surprise snow storms and hail storms with them and never had a problem with my hands getting too cold..Our riding group used to do an annual "Chili Run" the first clear weekend day of the year in January where we would ride at least one mile for every degree of temperature with a minimum of 30 miles if it was below freezing...And then we'd all go for a Chili Feed...

I havent thought about layering... Thats not a bad idea. Or hand warmers. I just dont wanna waste my underarmor gloves as they were a bit steep. Thanks for the response guys!

I run thin wools under my gloves, for extremely cold weather I have the giant
military mitts that go over everything. A strap around the neck allows me
to pull them off and let them hang. I use them ice fishing in general or in a
stand, not walking.

I've got a pair of gray/black fleece gloves with "Thinsulate" printed on the adjustment strap, and leather palms (I looked for a tag telling who made them, no luck) that are pretty warm and still fairly thin.
They'll soak up water like a sponge, but for dry/cold weather they're about perfect for hunting. Keep your eyes open for them when you're out shopping. I'm thinking I found them in Target or Wal-Mart pretty cheap.

They arent camoflauge or anything but i have a pair of ice armor gloves that seem to work pretty nice and they seem to be pretty water proof.

2nd on the Ice Armor's.

I like leather mittens with a open cuff and fleece lining and put a 7hr hand warmer pack in each mitten.I like a open cuff so I can slid my hand out with ease to call or shoot with my bare hand. Then slid my hand back in the nice warm mitten.

I like to put on a set of thin gloves, then pull a pair of "Glomets" over the top. A glomet is a glove with cut out fingers, but a mitten top you can pull down over the top or flip up out of the way. I'm sure you've seen them. This gives you added warmth, the dexterity of a thin glove, and the best of both worlds.

+1
but what kind of glove do you use under it?

I use the same and use the lighter weight cold gear Under armor gloves underneath...works great when its cold here

I keep the ragg wool gloves around. Often hear that boiled wool gloves are what they use in rough wet environments like lobster boats. Might try it someday.

I normally just use my bowhunting scent-lok gloves year round and when it gets cold I break out the muff from Icebreakers, and for those really cold muzzleloader hunts in January I will throw in a hand warmer that way my hands are very mobile at all times. For full body warmth the heater body suit is great from long stands.
