Good price for a Leupold VX-III 4.5-14x50mm?

Considering this for part of my next rig. Seems pretty expensive at stores, but I've seen it on ebay for around $400. What's a good price to pay for this scope?

SWFA.com has them for $679. They are usually pretty close to the best price, at least compared to the shops here in dallas and fort worth. That is with a 30mm tube, not sure if you can get or would want a 1" tube. Dont know what finish you want, because that obviously changes the price some as well. Gunbroker has them for around 500, but I would stear clear of auctions on optics unless you know the seller and can be sure you will get what you order. They dont have to ship to an FFL, which means no paperwork, so its easier to screw you around on the order. Good Luck!

Thanks for the replies.

That's why I use PayPal with ebay. Covers up to $1000 for any transaction that goes wrong...can't beat it!

Depending on the reticle, you can get one from Midway for 599-679 US$.

If you know someone with a C&R or someone with a dealers discount from them, they are somewhat cheaper.

After posting, I saw you were from Canada...the advice about C&R probably doesn't apply.

Be careful of Leupold knockoffs on ebay.

I would check with theopticzone.com. Usually very good prices there. I didn't see 50mm listed, so just drop him an email.

Just a reminder. If you get the 40mm Leupold VX-III it WILL NOT have adjustable objective, which, in my opinion, is needed in a scope of 14X.

You gotta go with the 30mm to get AO.

Be sure to check with one of our sponsors, Optic Zone. Good prices, great service. Lupe has added a VX-III 4.5-14/40 1" with AO. Has happened in the last 3-4 months. I've purchased two of them in the last 6 weeks. Both from Optic Zone. Great scopes. Almost as good as the old Vari-X III 4.5-14's.

Leupold #61120 is a 1" Tube VX-III 4.5-14x40mm w/AO & Varmint Hunters Reticle.

I have 3 Leupolds with the "Varminter Hunters Reticle"

AWESOME reticle!!!

However you do have to go with 30mm tube if you want "Side Focus"
