"The Howa M-1500 is one of the best known barreled-action rifles on the market and is the most popular of all of Howa's rifles."

"So we have decided to add $1,000 to the price"

lol

Thats really funny. 20 or so years ago, My son & myself bought S&W 1500 rifles, 2, for $200 each. Mine was a .270 & his a 30/06. I've since sold mine for what I gave for it & my son still has his. Good rifles & a dm good price at that time.

Look a little closer at the rifle. It has a Christensen Arms custom carbon bull barrel on it. This gun originally sold for $1,800 directly from Howa, but they don't manufacture them with the CA barrel anymore. $1,400 is a actually a pretty decent deal for this particular rifle. That is a sweet barrel!

It's hard to see! I don't think they mentioned the barrel at all did they? Only reason I knew is because the barrels are made close to where I grew up, and I wanted to buy that exact rifle when I bought my Howa a few years ago, but the wife vetoed the deal.

I am not sure how Gander Mountain exists. We have a number
of them in the area. Their stuff is always over priced unless
it is on sale. And then it usually can still be purchased for
less if one shops around. About the only time I shop there
is if I absolutely need something, and can't get it any where
else. One time, just before deer hunting, I realized I
was low on 150 gr. Combined Tech BT bullets, that my 308 Win,
BAR loves. After searching all of the local bullet stores,
and no time to order them, I paid Gander Mountain's price...It
was almost 2x of on-line prices. I think that was the last time
I purchased anything there.

only reason they can make money is they give exactly 50% of what the rifle is worth. Was at the local Gander and employee told me that when I was tryin to sell them my model 70. They used to give good prices for used guns.

The Gander in my area is about to hit hard times..
Cabela's opening up 30 minutes away.
Once I got the local Gander to honor lower prices on competative advertising. Next attempt, was a no.

If I am going to pay higher prices, I just shop at the local smaller gunstores. Has paid off..well, somewhat with an occasional good deal when asked for.
