Green laser

I was thinking about putting one on my rifle. I was wondering if anyone uses one on their bolt action rifles. And how did you go about putting it on.

Laser or anything that projects visible light is illegal here no matter what color it is.They do make barrel mounts that are pretty much universal

Why? For varmint/predator hunting? In daylight or at night?

You can have a tough time seeing where the dot is in daylight at anything beyond short distances, especially on a moving target. At night you will have to light up the target to identify just what kind of animal it is before shooting, which allows use of a standard scope. Even if you can see the dot through the scope, you don't need it, because...you can see through the scope and use the crosshairs!

If you are looking for a fast close range sight, a red dot sight (Aimpoint, Holosight, etc.) is more reliable to see and much faster to use.

Lasers are IMHO highly overrated, even on handguns, if you know how to use your sights and have practiced enough to ingrain good muscle memory in your presentation.

You may not know this but green lasers (the good ones) have a visible beam at night, they are a nice gaget for star gazers, they make it easy to point things out to others in the night sky. They do cost more than the ones on the convenience store counters next to the baseball bat lighters.

I was thinking about getting one to put on my 22-250 for night hunting. I know I have a scope, I just thought that it might be an advantage.
I was out with a guy a month or so ago calling, he had one his AR. I liked it, until he told me the price 400. Their is no way I would pay tat much for one.
A few weeks back I saw one in the Sportsman's guide for 90 dollers. This was the same laser that guy bought for 400 dollers.
