green lights for night hunting

have a powertac tactical light on my smith and wesson AR15 that i plan on using for coyote hunting. It is a white light and 700 lumens. Will really light up the area for at least a 100 yards. not a narrow beam, but very wide. I emailed them to see if they have red lens for these and they said they only have blue or green. the blue is used for tracking blood and the green for predator or night hunting.
would the green light work or spook them. i have a hand held red led light for scanning.
thanks

manofsteel,

The green lens would work. However, it will cut the amount of light put out by the flashlight by 60-75%, significantly decreasing the beam distance. Any color light in the visible spectrum shined directly in a predators eyes will spook them.

Much better to go with a light with a RED or Green LED than a filter over a white light.

Scan with the Red Light and shoot with the white. Or buy a extra lens in clear and use Dycum Layout Dye in red to make a Red lens for your light. Just remember Don't Scan with a Gun Mounted Light

thanks. i will just use the powertac tactical light mounted on my gun to shoot with. I have a handheld rechargable spot light, i think it is a stanley and got it at lowes a couple of years ago. It is about 250 lumens and is a pretty good spot light. I put a red lens cover on it and it does cut down on the output like you said.
what is a good led red spot light to use that is not very big and bulky. Everything i have looked at is a white light at walmart and the local gun shops that you put a red lens on.
