Green-T Coating By W.E. Birdsong and Assoc.

After researching a lot of options for different dips and coatings for my different weapons, I found that I have the good fortune of living just 15 miles from one of the best. A few months ago I had the pleasure of spending a morning visiting with Mr. W.E. Birdsong in Florence MS. He was kind enough to give me a tour of his business and allow me to see some of his handy work. Mr. Birdsong is not only a gentleman in every sense of the word, but he is one of the most knowledgable gun men I have ever had the pleasure to speak to. He is largely a defense contractor. He works on many foreign defense contracts, FBI and Special forces contracts. Mr. Birdsong has two teflon based coatings that he applies to any metal surface. Black-T is his original coating and Green-T is the latest. He coats every external and internal part excluding the bore. Mr. Birdsong's coatings penatrate the metal and are virtually corrosion resistant for life. They are non reflective and due to the teflon base, they slick up actions and reduce drag. I was so impressed I left Mr. Birdsong a piece to begin working on to test the waters. Today, after 4 weeks, I picked it up and I couldn't be more pleased. I dropped off two more pieces and he will get many more of mine one by one as I can afford them. Here is my TC Encore in .300 Win Mag with an after market muzzle break. It was all stainless steel before Mr. Birdsong worked his magic. Hope you all enjoy this as much as I have. I encourage anyone who is looking for a coating for their arms to speak to Mr. Birdsong, right after he gets done with the rest of mine! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Mr. Birdsong charges $125 for handguns and $150 for long guns for in-state customers. I think it is a bit more for out of state customers that involve shipping a firearm to him, but it is not much more. If you are interested PM me and I will send you his phone number and contact info. You won't be disappointed. He said that the US navy does saltwater corrosion testing and other finishes have tested to 60 or 70 hours, they stopped testing his finish at 6000+ hours without sign of corrosion!

Notice that while the barrel and receiver are done in Green-T, the trigger, hammer, hammer assist and screws for the rings and bases are all coated in Black-T. The entire firearm is broken down and everything, including internal springs, pins and the firing pin is coated. Their attention to detail is unbelievable.

Looks awesome, I'm not sure about the bore coating though. Have you shot before and after groups to check accuracy to see if there is a difference?

Everything EXCLUDING the bore.

I have always heard great things about Birdsong's finish. TacOps uses their finish primarily which always comes out looking great.

I like the green coating on your Encore. I had BirdSong coat my 25-06 a number of years back and it still looks like it was just done today. I went with the all Black on the entire rifle including rings and bases. You will not regret having the Black-T applied to you rifle. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

OldTurtle,

It is strange, but it actually has depth to it when you look at it closely. The pics that I have on here do not show reflection and they were taken with the flash on my camera!

Several of you have asked me to PM you and I decided that I would just post his Phone Number here. You can reach Mr. Birdsong at 601-939-7448. You will have a most enjoyable conversation with him and he will explain his whole process to you in detail. You will not be disappointed. But, let me know how it goes! I want to hear what you all think after speaking to him.

I am so pleased with the work that Mr. Birdsong has done, I have intrusted him with my Dtech AR15 for the next few weeks to work his magic with. Should be something to behold when it gets done! Pics to follow in a few weeks.

I talked to Mr. Birdsong today and I have to say that I enjoyed every minute of our conversation. Mr. Birdsong was more then happy to answer all my questions and some that I had not even thought about asking. He is a true pleasure to talk to and and a true Gentleman.

Totch94, Is your encore a darker green then the pics make it out to be?

Lee

goosedowner,

I would say that it is a little darker than it looks in the pics. I would say that it is OD green. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
