I actually think the best deal is to buy factory Hornady 123 gr. A-Max. This is very accurate ammunition. Then after shooting the factory you have once fired brass to reload. Check the prices of new brass against buying factory already loaded. I actually prefer Hornady over Lapua mainly because of the standard flash hole rather than the small flash hole of Lapua. The smaller flash hole of Lapua does not cause issues with depriming with standard dies. No doubt about it, Lapua is great brass but I have no issues with Hornady and actually get more velocity with the same charges than with Lapua. Just to note that 6.5 Grendel brass is expensive and I don't expect prices to ever come down? Factory loaded Hornady SST or A-max for $1.17-$1.18 per round or Lapua empty brass for $1.03 per case or Hornady new brass for $.78 per case. Add the cost of bullets, powder, and primer and the factory Hornady is the best deal and it's not easy for me to duplicate the velocity and accuracy of the Hornady factory loaded. I do see reloaders forming brass from Russian 7.62x39 AK brass and the first firing is mainly to fireform the AK brass. Haven't tried it myself.
