Grey Fox Sounds

This one is too easy. Loud, raspy anything, and puppy whines. And be ready because a grey will run right up your leg when they get jazzed.

Electronic call: Grey Fox Pup Distress.
If they are in the area, it doesnt take long at all to get real western.

BANDIT

Does the gray fox pup dis. work all winter or just in the fall? I have tried it I don't know how many times with 0 results. I do call them with with other calls though. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Cooper, I have had good success with it in late January. I have used it on Grays that came in to another sound then spooked for one reason or another, left the scene only to come busting back in, within seconds, when I switched the caller over to the Gray Fox Pup Distress.

Vapredatorhunter used that very method to kill one a couple of nights ago. It came in to Rabbit Distress #1, but spooked and wouldn't commit, so Matt switched over the the Gray Fox Pup for thirty seconds, then right back to the rabbit and bang-flop.

I have nicknamed this sound my "comeback call"

The grey is mostly nocturnal but I've called many at last light, and a few at the crack of dawn. Understand that the grey fox is a denning animal year round, up in logs, deep in brushpiles and/or a claimed gopher hole. Where as the red only dens during breeding, and spends the rest of his days above ground in thick cover and hedge rows.

I had a string of good luck last year right at last possible light of day. Guess they were waking up hungry or something. Usually flat dark though.
