Griz-N-Gray call

Kettle Creeks calls have been bought by Dillon/FoxPro right?

I've been wondering how the new FoxPro/Dillon calls would stack up, but since they're basically a factory product, I wasn't very intrigued. Interesting to learn that they were the Kettle Creek's, so a little history like that might make it worth trying them out.

Definitely seem a lot better than FoxPro's old line of plastic calls!!!

Yep, Foxpro bought out KCC. Same call, I have one and it sounds great. Best sounding grey fox pup call out there IMO (excluding e-callers).

I know it doesn't really answer your question, but here's why I have hesitated to buy a Griz-n-grey, regardless of who makes it:

I like the sound, but I'm a little curious about the amount of movement you need to play the Griz-N-Grey, might be why you're hit and miss with it?

Also, I'm pretty die hard rabbit/rodent/bird distress for coyotes, so I may be biased, but the call is basically offering up two fairly uncommon food-sources for coyotes (not saying coyotes don't eat coons or fox pups, but not nearly as often as rabbits and rodents). Which is the 2nd reason I just haven't been too turned onto this call.

I believe this call is for Coons and Grey Fox and the occasional Coyote. Thats what I got it for,But the only time I have had any luck with is when a Goon came from behind me and made me P my pants!
(No Shot)
Yes there is alot of Hand Movement to make a Coon sound,But to make the Fox sounds you have very little movement. Another poster said "He has seen many Critters fall to this Call" I want to know what kind of Critters???????Other than getting Coons to look at you in a tree thats all I can get done. Thanks! Jeff

No greys with it as we dont have many of them up here but quite a few Reds 1 lynx and a wolf with it! Its my favorite hand call by far best part no blowing until you are out of breath and nothing to freeze up!

I picked up a Grizz n grey last season. I have called in more then a handful of Greys with it, I have high confidence using it just as much as my foxpro grey fox sounds.
I've even called 2 big male reds using it.

It's a great back up to the foxpro, and I like how I can add emotion to the call, it's a great change up

To All,

Yes, as most now know, we have purchased Kettle Creek Calls. We were very intrigued by the design of the calls. Curtis did a great job of developing the calls. As most call makers quickly find out when they start selling a lot of calls, it takes a lot of time to keep up with the demand. At first, when they are just selling to retail customers, they are making decent money. Then, when dealers want to start selling them, and make a profit as well, they find out that with the price that they started out selling them at, doesn't leave them with any margin.
Yes, we had to raise the price of the Griz n Gray. But what many forget is that we are making less on the calls (alot less) than when they were selling only to retail customers. I have seen plastic molded calls selling for well over $50.00. This call is completely custom made, to the exact same standards as the original. And, I can easily say that we have sold alot more of these calls than have ever been sold before. You just don't see us on here showing them used as much, when compared to the custom call makers selling their product. I just prefer using the electronic calls. The Griz and Gray is now in most retailers.

As far as the movement, they can be easily operated with one hand, with no more movement than using a conventional mouth call, assuming that your are opening and closing your hands.

I don't think you will be disappointed with the call at all. It really is an awesome call for grays, coons, and coyotes. And yes, it calls in reds too!

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

First day i had it i called a grey within ten yards standing in a wide open field with a white t shirt on. When a grey fox comes into grey fox pup distress he don't give a rats hind end about movement. Their adrenaline is so high they would jump a grizzly

I have sat on several stands with a guy that had a KCC Griz-N-Gray and that thing sounded GREAT! Calling in SEVERAL different animals, coyotes, and fox alike. However, we recently went out on a stand after he was forced to purchase a new Griz-N-Gray (from FoxPro/Dillon) and it sounds TERRIBLE! Well at least when compared to the original KCC model. Now you guys can say that you make it the same, but the sound is NOWHERE NEAR as good. It was a pretty interesting conversation on the way back to the truck when I mentioned that it sounded like CRAP and asked if he broke it or something! and he agreed and let me in on the news that he lost the KCC original. SAD DAY! sad day indeed. He is a member here and maybe he will stop in this thread again... Maybe there is somethings wrong with the one he has, but either way, I wouldnt use it unless I wanted to send every critter within earshot running the other direction.

That had to be quite a sight! I've never seen a grey in a white T-shirt! I just read about calling fox and the Griz-N-Gray call was mentioned. I looked it up and see that it's being sold for nearly $40. I don't think I could justify that price for a production call, especially with some of the mixed reviews. I don't follow the Foxpro explanation for the extreme price increase. I would think that Foxpro's purchase of the call and their marketing would be based on thier ability to mass produce and meet the demand of the retailers they supply. (without tripling the price for the consumer) Bottom line is, there's a middle man in the proccess now and everyone wants thier cut. It has nothing to do with Foxpro's custom work on each call.
