Groundhog Timing???

Pardon My Ignorance..
I am new to groundhog hunting but since I have gotten into it I am addicted. Anyway I am frustrated with what time is best to hunt these little buggers. I have been told to go in the morning or late afternoon after supper.
I have gone out first thing in the morning and also gone out later in the morning. I have only seen one so far in the morning( I shot him!!)
Anyway I have gone out once before in the afternoon around 2:00 till 4:00 and seen quite a few of them. Does this make sense to see them out eating in the early afternoon?? It could be just me but it seems like early afternoon is a better time to hunt them if its nice outside.
Could anyone help me out?

crazy,
Groundhogs are active at all times of the day... but i have found that in the evening hours are the best, like an hour or 2 before dark.. i havent had much luck hunting them in the morning, but i dont do it much.. i'd imagine that it'd be a good time to hunt them also... i think the heat has something to do with it.. but heck i dunno.. hope this helps!!!

We usually start hunting just before lunch, then hunt the rest of the day. If the temps drop at night the whistle pigs seem to stay holed up in the mornings. But again this is Michigan, they say if you don't like the weather wait 20mins. and it will change. But truthfully early afternoon throughout the rest of the day seems better here.

When the weather is most comfortable for you to be out, that is when the groundhogs are most likely to be out.

Also, they don't mind a light drizzle in warm weather, and will often come out when it starts thundering.
