Got my 204. Love it, can't wait to shoot it some more. Problem-its stainless and needs a cammo job badly. I'm hesitant to paint it and don't like the tape (pain in the a**) Any other options? Decals, maybe?
Thanks for the thoughts. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

TRY CAMO FORM FROM CABELAS. IT HAS NO STICKY STUFF TO STICK TO THE FIREARM. YOU CAN PUT IT ON AND TAKE IT OFF MANY TIMES. IT ONLY ADHERES TO ITSELF.

That Cabelas stuff is called Snake Skins camo kit. I'm thinkin about trying it myself, cause like you, I'm not willing to paint my Rifle. But unlike my Dad I'm, willing to do that little extra.

Another easy and inexpensive option is to simply use an old burlap sack. I used this method for my lever rifle and it works great.
Cut the burlap sack into 2" wide strips. Lay it out on a floor and spray the strips with different colors of Krylon camo spray paint (any random pattern will do). Give the paint an hour to dry and then toss the painted strips into sink of hot water. Let it soak and agitate it a bit by hand. This will make the borders a bit stringy and break up any hard outline. Lay out to dry.
Finally, wrap the burlap sections around your rifle barrel, scope and any other areas you want covered. Secure with rubber bands.
When you are finished, you'll be amazed at how well this process conceals your rifle.

Another thing I use for snow camo is the leg wrapping tape they use for horses. I got mine at the local Cenex store. They had a couple of different colors so I got the tan and the dark brown also. So far I've only used the white but I'm looking at the light tan and possibly tricking it out with some darker colors using felt pens. I think I paid about 2 bucks a roll.

The "tape" Ducksoup is talking about is vet wrap tape. You should be able to find it at any equestrine store. It has no adhesive that will stick to your rifle, but it does stick to itself. So when you wrap it around parts of your rifle it doesn't leave that gummy residue like other camo tapes.

I'm not sure there was any need to camo my SS barrel and silver scope on my Savage 12VLP because I called and shot several coyotes before I taped it and they didn't seem to shy away from my shiny new rifle.

Here's a photo of my Savage 12VLP with no camo on the barrel or scope.

I noticed the local ace hdw store had the vet wrap that silverfox is talking about in camo.It is made for wrapping your firearms.I cant remember who makes it but I'm thinking about trying a roll myself.

I used Norrells Moly Resin. I like it alot so far. We just did the HS Precision 300win and it looks better than factory. We did the whole HS and the stock. I am going to do the barrell on the AR soon. I also have a buddies Savage 22-250 that has a stainless barrell that I will be doing. Let me know if I can help.

sorry to differ, but snake skin is a different product. it is a shrink fit and applied with heat.

camo form is somewhat like the vet wrap others have talked about. it has no adhesive but clings to itself, is waterproof and can be removed and reapplied at will.

go to cabelas web site do a serach for camo form.
