just trying to get some info on camo on your calling rifles.do you use paint? what kind ? is there a cloth sleave you can buy for your barrel that you can change for different seasons(snow or real tree)? do you use tape? just curious as to all your opinions
Thanks Todd

I used tape for a whole season in MT on my big game rifle and earned some rust out of the deal. Tape is very temporary if you don't want to refinish and reblue. (Stainless might be fine.) I decided my hunting guns were mine, and for hunting, so I went to paint. I mean, all the way! Disassemble, degrease, tape, sandblast, prime, base color, overlay pattern, and cook 'em dry! Like that. Lots of guys wrap, kinda incorporating the gun into their uninform of the day. Very effective, probably the best, but can get in the way.

There's lots of theories!

Cabelas now has a heat shrink camo. It fits over your gun, put heat on it with a hair dryer and it shrinks to your guns form
It sell for $12.00 I think.

Camo Form

It is a camo "tape" that only sticks to itself. Works awesome and doesn't leave a residue on your gun like tape.

thanks for the input i was checking out that camo form and like the way it looks and sounds like its pretty easy to manage and would work great to protect the rifle.

orkan ,is that camo form that you have on your AR ? if so dose it work well in cold weather?

dose anyone have any pics of your custom camo jobs?

I'm with Navy on the "beartooth camo gun cover," /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif I have one on my Winchester Coyote and I love it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif. I would definitely recommend it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif, it protects your gun in the field (even partially from moisture) and is very easy on and off so you can put it on whichever rifle you choose to take that day /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif.

I really like both the beartooth and the camo form. I think I might try both. Thanks guys. I have been wrestling with this for some time and just have not been able to bring myself to paint.

Here is a custom paint job.

I use the Beartooth product myself and am happy with it, I even ordered the scope cover. The shell holders integrated into the butt piece is nice to have as well.

Where did you pick up that M24?

The "M-24" is built on a Rem 700 PSS. I have added the HS Prec. det. mag and the HS Prec. M-24 style stock. It is not a true M-24 copy as it is not a long action chambered in .308 which the real deal is. I have heard the long action chambered in .308 suffer from some feeding probs. Mine feeds like a dream. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Sweet looking rifles guys. i think im still leaning towards the camo form becouse it looks easy to change up the colors for the different seasons up here and looks like it would protect the rifle from scratchs and from other metal objects from clincking up against it. plus its cheap (i think about $12 a roll)

Paint! Sorry about the photo quality, I can never remember how to reduce pics down to size!

Liked the shotgun results so much I did the 222 carbine set-up in the Contender the other day.
