Gun rack

Has anyone here tried to build a gun rack on the truck's bed? I think it's a good storage idea since you can put on a truck bed cover over it.

It's something like this

Here's another one which you can attach inside the cab. But if you don't have welding equipment, bolting the hooks to the brackets also works.

One of the guys I deer hunt with has, its on a roll out frame & the whole thing is removable. His tonneau cover is made from aluminum sheeting & is on hinges with hydraulic closers. He's quite the fabricator.

I have tackle back from Cabela's. It hangs on the front seat and has neoprene straps to hold the guns and has some pockets too. It's worked great so far. I have pretty a heavy rifle right around 12-13 pounds and it holds/supports it well. This weekend it supported my rifle and my brothers 7-8 pound rifle too. I paid less than $20 for it and couldn't be more pleased.

That's what I used to do but with bags and other stuff we've had the gun shift and fall in the flood board; we don't like piling all our stuff on top of them either. Hanging them on the seat backs keeps them out of the way pretty good for us. We transport them unloaded for safety sake.
