I usually have 3 or 4 pop up blinds set up every deer season for me and my guests. I cut a tree branch with a Y in it, wrap it with an old sock and some duct tape and cut it to length to fit each blind. Ya, I know it's primitive, but it is surprisingly stable. I use about a 3/4 to 1" stick.
I bought a monopod once and the stick beats it all to heck.
