The one time I used a popup on a field I just used two pieces of rebar, drove them into the ground close together and used duct tape to fashion a cradle and to cushion the sides. It was really stable but definately wasn't portable. I just left them there and would put my popup back over them when I hunted that spot. They were almost in the treeline so not a problem with being in the way of farm equipment. I tried Stoney Point sticks and a monopod but never felt really stable.
