Hey guys I was a big gun shop locally today and they had a rra that they had customized. That sucker was bad as*!!!! It had one of there custom paint jobs on it and it really made the gun! They called it splatter tac with a green base. It added a great texture and I'd really like to do this to one of my guns; however there is no way I'm going to pay the $500 they want to do it. I'm going to post some pictures of it to see if any of you know how to do it or know what another common name of this gun cover is?!

I wonder if they have managed to use something like duracoat and paint a base coat then used a gun similar to those you use to texture your walls to splatter the second coat on.

If not they have got the ultimate scam going on. $500 for a $10 krylon texture rattle can job.

Tagging, curious to see if anyone knows what it is.

Haha yeh they wanted $3700 for it. It did have a lot of custom stuff done to it though. Custom barrel, magpul ubr, ect..... One could easily build that same gun for a lot cheaper, but they gotta make some money off of there work. They are pretty good guys in that shop and they negotiate pretty good with me. However I really wish they could paint my gun like that for a reasonable price! They told me they had over 150 in special paint supplies to do that gun!? I might do it if it was around $200 lol. I don't think its krylon but I could def be wrong. Gosh that thing looked awesome. Haha the only reason I really noticed it was because I asked to shoulder that gun so I could see how stable the ubr stock was, and then I felt the texture on the gun and loved it!!!

I've done texturing on handguards, grips and stocks, I use truck bed liner, then color as desired, you can get the spatter effect by using less air on the spray gun

I have done similar to several of my rifles and my buddies as well. We use a base coat of cerakote and let that dry and cure. Use whatever color you prefer as the base coat. After a couple day dry period we use the krylon textured paints on top. It adds so added toughness to the cerakote plus gives it an awesome texture. Has worked very well and holds up great.
