h&r buffalo classic 45-70

hey guy's and gals. well, wifey got me an h&r in 45-70 and i was just wondering if any1 shoots this gun and what loads ur using in it? im gonna go shoot it tomorrow with the evolution loads she picked up with it.i want to start loading cast heavy bullets in it.want to try 405 and 500 grainers.

I have 2 of em, one has been rechambered to .45-120-3¼" Sharps Straight, I throated the .45-70 cuz they have short throats, you won't be able to load to SAAMI COL with most 350gr and bigger bullets unless you go to bore rider style bullets. Biggest I shoot are 550gr Saeco #20 and the 525gr Beartooth Piledrivers, both at around 1800fps. You'll want to add some weight or an MRR to the stock and probably add a leather slip on recoil pad, the steel butt pad isn't user friendly with stout loads. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
