Handgun for coyotes

I think that depends on the shooter and his or her ability and experience. No one can say indefinately one is more accurate than the other. MOST people with similar experience between an auto and a revolver shoot a revolver more accurately, all things equal such as barrel length and caliber. I would say both at 50yds are good for yotes. I have shot a few with a ruger blackhawk in .357 and a 1911 in .45acp.

As you can see from the photo, I have a couple to choose from,
and the photo is a bit dated...The pistol pile has grown some.

I use the top right handgun for coyotes. It is 308 Win,
launching 125 gr. ballistic tips. Not fur friendly, but
is a nice addition to a shotgun, without lugging two long
guns.

Given your choices, I would go with the Colt Python.

Quote:Which would shoot better groups at 50 yards??...That is totally dependent on the skill of the shooter...Someone that shoots revolver bullseye competitions all the time will basically put all rounds seemingly in one hole, but without practice with a semi-auto will appear to have been shooting a shotgun....

On the other hand, I've seen Ray Chapman, Olympic Medalist, unload 15 rounds (reload included) from a stock 1911 in a moving target in 10 seconds from 35 yards with all in a 3"x5" square....But he's not that good with a revolver...

By the way, both the Python and Gold Cup are Colts....

Out of the two weapons, I would choose python. Higher velocity, and longer range. I shoot chucks around 50 to 65 yards with my 45. 100+ yards is pretty common with my open sight 357. Just get a 10mm delta elite for the best of both.
