I would like to know what loads you use in 357 magnums for handgun hunting coyotes? Thank you. Dennis. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I occasionally use my 686 Smith for close quarters coyotes. I am loading a 110gr. Hornady XTP with a healthy dose of Hodgdon 110. Muzzle blast and concussion is exceptional. If you don't hit him he will atleast be blind and deaf for the rest of his days.

Hi Hornetfan. Ishoot a Ruger Bisley 7 1/2 in. barrel. And this gun is sighted in for 50 yards. This is because I also shoot in IHMSA. International Handgun Metalic Silhouette Associtaion. We shoot at targets that are at 25,50,75 100 yards. The class I shoot is Field Pistol which is open sights. I thought about the 110 gr. bullet but I don't want fur damage. And I don't know if I should reload HP's or FN. bullets. I was going to reload 158 gr. bullets in FN, but I don't know if that will be good enough to stop the coyote in it's tracks. Or will the HP's blow the coyote all to hell? The farthist I would be shooting is 50 yards. I will be reloading with either H4227 or H110. I have both. The H4227 is the good stuff. I did have a pound of the bad stuff and I sent it back to Hodgon. Thank you for your help. Dennis.

The best accuracy I ever got was using Speer 140 JHPs. My pistol (Colt Python 6") loves those things. Powder selection doesn't seem to make much difference, I've used Unique, Red Dot, etc. , they all shot good.
