On my way to Academy and passed a guy on a Harley with a side arm strapped to his side. Guess he got his stuff together!
Thought it was cool.

With Harley riders a sidearm is carried to shoot their bike with and put it out of its misery when it breaks down on you.

I carry on my bike to, sometimes even with a thigh rig... Sometimes with a AR...

Agreed. Many good points to concealed carry. I can't think of any advantages for carrying in the open.

Besides, 9 out of 10 Harleys made in the last 25 years are still on the road.

The rest of them made it to their destination.

I hauled a new AR from a shop on the tour pack on my Harley a few years ago. Nobody seemed to pull up too close at stop lights.

I've owned many brands of MC over 50 years. I've owned Harleys from just OK 1950's to horrible AMF 70's to Evo, Twin cams etc that I have now. The last 20+ years they have been excellent machines, at least for me.

It's not just you, I've had 5 of them from an old 76 Electra glide, a 95 dyna low rider. Road Glides in years 03, 07 and a 2012, not one has left me beside the road.

Oddly, many moons ago, a buddy and I were going mushroom hunting and had our handguns in cases tied to our bikes, but were wearing our holsters. The chief of police saw us at the gas station and told us we were breaking the law. He said it was a fine line, but due to the fact that we were in the open, handguns in a case were concealed weapons and we actually should have them in the holsters. He wasn't sure how we should handle it, and told us that a gungho cop could give us a hard time. He didn't really know what to tell us as far as legality went, so he advised us to take a truck instead of our bikes. Go figure.

I heard a story one time about bringing a handgun to a gunfight being a bad idea...

My bike was the only vehicle I had for about a year, so this was how I went down. Same bike has a pistol holster under one of the cockpit fairings in front of my left hand. Lucky for me, I shoot pistols lefty, so I can run the throttle and the pistol at the same time

If there is two things that I know are certain, it's...

1. We stole Velcro from the Martians, and...

2. Motorcycle popularity spiked with the start of SoA.
