I'm looking at the Harris 25CS bipod. Anyone use one and what do you like/dislike about it? I want the tall series because I hunt sitting up.
Thanks for any input, and BTW where is a good place to buy from?

Bipod is OK.Sometimes they are just great but sometimes they are hard to move around to get your shot and can cause you to miss taking a shot.
A lot of the fellows on here use cross sticks cause they are more versatile.I like sticks better for hunting.I like the bog pod tripod.Like the Harris it does not move as easily

I used one for a while. It allowed me to sit with the gun on my shoulder while keeping both hands free. I liked that aspect of it. What I didn't like was the weight it added to an already heavy gun (bull barrel). The weight of the barrel and bipod made the gun real top heavy when slung over my shoulder. If my hunting partner walked slower than me, he would have been looking down my barrel. I switched to some homemade shooting sticks. I found some tent poles on Craig's List for $8. They work great too and the gun rides better on my shoulder. A lot of people love the Harris Bipod and I'm not surprised. Just my $.02 worth.

I have this model Harris and love it. Very steady rest as said above can be a pain to move from one position to the other. As far as carrying a rifle with a sling there is an easy fix to that. Carry the rifle with the barrel pointed down the the weight is at the bottom and it doesn't.try to twist on your shoulder. The added weight can be a pain but I can carry my 22-250 with a 20 inch bull barrel and Harris bipod all day. Make sure u get the model that cants that way if your on uneven ground its easier to level your cross hairs

I am currently using a set of shooting sticks and they work ok, but I am thinking that a fixed bipod will provide a steadier rest. Am I right or wrong?

I found the Harris 25 CS (27" swivel model) for $98.33 + shipping from ontargetsportsonline.com. That is the best price I've seen.

I put my elbow on my knee/leg. Best rest there is.

I did have the bipod you speak of. Good quality, just like all harris. But I sold it.....

I originally tried the taller fixed bipod on my AR, and found the problem of the weight, and versatility. I tried the normal shooting sticks, and while they worked, I have really forund that I like the Stoneypoint 25-62in bipod/telescoping sticks. They allow the gun to sit flat on top the the sticks rather than pinched in-between which allows smoother pivoting. They are not attached to the gun, they are light and easy to pait in your favorite colors. I also swithced to a versapod bipod and mount. They are quick to pop on and pop off the bipod, cheap to put mounts on all of my different rifles, and still only have to shell out for one bipod, but it takes seconds to switch from gun to gun. Good luck on your search, its probably going to take a lot of trial and error to find out what you really like.

+1 on the stoney point. I have never had any luck with using the harris bipod being tall enough on sloping ground. The other thing is that they add some weight to the end of the gun and they always dig into my shoulder when you carry the gun. I started using the stoney point and love them. Another option is the stoney point radis pod. They attach to the gun and have acouple of different ht that will go taller than the tallest harris.

+4 on Stoney Point Rapid Pivot bipod. Not as noisy as a Harris either. For colony varmints?? Harris wins hands down.

I have a Harris Biod on all my rifles and i always carry a set of my Sniper shooting Styx on every stand.
Bipod works great for a lower/laying profile shots such as on the top or the side of a hill. I like the shooting styx for just about every stand. In the NE plains of Colorado the only thing you can sit in is either sage or yucca plants and nothing else for cover.

I have every size of Harris bipod available and they always stay on my rifles regardless of the terrain.

You cant go wrong having both!

My 2 cents worth!

Praying for snow!!

I have Harris 27 inch pivot bipods and like them a lot better than shooting sticks. The shooting sticks have to much forward and backward movement to keep on target at longer ranges. I had 23 inch but they were too short and couldn't bend over to see very well. They can get hung up in the weeds but some prep is required to clear out a spot.

I have had many Harris bi-pods. Now I have shooting sticks. The bi-pods cost me several coyote cause the legs catch in grass and such, the sticks I can toss down. Plus those blasted Harris pods will pinch the crap out of your fingers if your slow to learn like me. I traded my last Harris pod straight across for a set of sticks and believe I came out ahead.

Did I mention sticks don't pinch!!!!
had a blood blister for a week.
stupid bi-pod

I used the tall Harris for a couple days and it now sits in my closet. I found that the stability was great but the legs would hang up in the brush when I had to swing on a moving target. Went back to my shooting sticks.

I have used Harris bipods all my life. I recently bought a Shooters Ridge that extends to 29". Paid $49.99 shipped. So far no complaints.
