i know this is the wrong forum to put this under but........... history channel. figgered the most people would see it here.

I was waiting all month for this mini-series!!!
I've watched both the 1st & 2nd episodes.[sp]
Definitely will be watching the ending tonight.

IMHO, it's a good mini-series, & well acted.
I don't know how many "liberties" the writers took with the actual events.
But, I'm learning quite a bit more than I ever knew before.
I had know idea that they fought side by side in the Civil War.
Or that the families just lived basically a stone's throw from each other.

I have to say that Tom Berenger is playing his part very convincingly as a "dirty, rotten SOB". LOL

C'mon guys... I've been recording all three episodes (so I don't have to put up with the advertisements) I'm not going to read any more on this topic until I can sit down and watch all three at the same time.....

I'm a night behind because I cannot watch the commercials anymore either. I'll be watching episode 2 here shortly.

What ever did I do before DVR...lol

A lot of important stuff missing. I figured they would Hollywood it. No mention of union battles, no mention of coal, no courthouse steps murders. I'm a little disappointed. The Hollywood version of a true story is usually disappointing when you read into the history books instead of the script.

Quote:no mention of coal...Really??? The whole thing started over that subject from what I've read and that's where the term "Red Neck" was started as well...as the striking miners wore red bandannas for identification while in the fray, fighting the strike busters that the mine owners brought in to end the strike...

Just goes to prove that you can't trust Hollywood when it comes to history...They will try to re-write it to suit themselves..

Borkon...

Tom B. is playing "Uncle Jim" Vance.
Like was stated in the post after your's, he's the Hatfield with the dog.
In episode #1, he's the 1st Hatfield to shoot a McCoy...for the "you're havin' sex w/yer dog" insult in the bar.
