Hawk Call?

I've been looking for a Hawk call. This is from Rich Cronk's suggestion to use a hawk call in conjunction with a rabbit distress.

Anybody know where to pick one up or get a reed assembly so that I can make the call body (if there is a body on this type call).

Thanks!

I have an old PS Olt that I have been using a long time. It is a very good hawk call but I don't know if they make them anymore.

Go here - All Predator Calls I love my Knight and Hale Hawk call and would not go in the woods without it.

I have been working on one for two years now, but I still think the sound of the Knight and Hale calls is excellent. I use it when ever I use a cottontail distress sound.

It's also great for getting crows to come in /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I thought I'd checked there but obviously not! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

Haven't checked your site lately... just wondering if the lanyard tutorial is posted yet? Looking forward to that one.

Crapshoot-

Thanks for the link. I hadn't been looking here for it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif Not sure how I missed it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

'preciate it!

I would like to hear a sound file from the sounds you are getting from those calls if you have that capability. It sounds interesting. I have never been able to produce the high pitched trailing off screach of a hawk with anything less than a thick .007 or up mylar voice. The thin stainless steal and brass voices used in standard predator calls just don't have the capability of producing those high notes for me. I really would like to know how you are getting that sound as I would love to be able to use one of the standard predator call reeds in a hawk call so I wouldn't have to buy 250 mylar reeds for just a couple of calls.

Rich Cronk is dead on correct on his suggestion. My hawk call came from Lohman. It is walnut. I think Haydel makes one too. My Lohman sounds just like a red tail hawk.

Hey Al! I ordered one this week from them. Nice looking dog in your avatar!

Looks like we're pretty close to each other--- I'm over in Frankfort. Interesting show on WVLK radio the other day talking about the coyotes being a problem in Lexington out by Hamburg. Those suckers are everywhere! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Yeah, when they had just opened the Kroger's out in Beaumont Center, they came up to the back of the building looking for handouts like stray dogs.

i have a lohman hawk screamer and the sounds i get from the pc-2 and grantham are comparable if not better. you just have to watch it at the end so you don't get a "flyer". the pc-2 is a little easier to get it out of than the grantham but they both sound good. hopefully the sound file will be right here tomorrow. one with the grantham one with the pc-2 and one with the lohman for comparison. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif
