Can i use hawk cries i have downloaded from the internet to lure in crows? If anyone has tried this has it worked and how many decoys should i put out around a hawk decoy i have made?

I can't give you any information on using hawk sounds, but I can tell you a story that happened to me. About two years ago I slipped into a stand along a creek bank before daylight and, unknown to me or him, a hawk was in a tree right above me. About daylight I started blowing my hand call with a few "come here" call and the hawk took flight with a screech. He then began to circle and screech some more so I switched over to a crow in distress call and boy did the crows come in! I guess the hawk screeching and me acting like a hurt crow really got things stirred up.

I have an old P.S. Olt mouth call that I always carry with my crow calls. I've never really called in a crow with it but I mix it in with the crow calls sometime to try simulate a hawk and crow fight. I figure it probably can't hurt because I always see crows dive bombing and trying to chase off any hawks. We have the crows and hawk fight on the Fox Pro electronic caller. I don't think it has called in as many as the other crow sounds on caller have. Just my two cents have fun!

I have a call from United States Sporting Products that is Crows fighting with Hawk, I just transfered over to a CD but the tape has gotten me more crows than any other call I have!! we would take a hawk or old decoy and about half dozen 2 liter pop bottles and paint the bottles flat black (high tech stuff) sit the hawk on the tape player and get to cover before long crows everywhere.

Depending on the part of the country you're in, the redtail hawk screams mixed in with really excited crow sounds can be a killer, especially during the nesting season for crows. Here in Georgia redtail hawks are numerous and they are a natural enemy of the crows. It is very common to see, or hear, crows fighting a hawk. One of my better run and gun tapes made by Johnny Stewart is the hawk/crow fight.

By the way, you mentioined "Can I use....". Something I have learned over the past couple of years of hunting crows "hard" is that anything might work on a given day. Dont be scared of trying something new. Who knows? It might work for ya.

Hope this helps.
