Head space or not to headspace?

I'm building a new AR-15 right now, in .223 My question is since everything is new, do I need to check the headspacing or is that just if your putting new on old ? Such as a new barrel on a old upper? I have a RRA upper and am going to install a DPMS barrel 20".

Thanks!

Head spacing checks tolerance stack up between your bolt and your barrel. Any time you put two previously unmated pars together it's a good idea to check head space.

If you have looked at a set of go no-go gauges you probably know they are expensive. I found these guys that is kinda nice. If you plan on building more rifles in the future, maybe purchasing them is the ticket.
