Normally I knows how to deal with vermin. There ain't much I haven't killed at one time or another. But these little bastards have gotten the best of ol'e Grizz. They are tearing up my back yard. Open for suggestions, Rick.

I'm sure that you caught them from one of your neighbors.lol They do not like vibration or too much water. I think that I would target their food source, grubs if I'm not mistaken, although I'm not sure what you could buy in the state of Kommifornia that would do the job as I'm sure that grubs have rights also!! Do you have the do it yourself pest control places?

Rat Terrier??? Honestly, at one time I had them so bad that I was mashing down their burrows and sitting on my roof with a .22 and trying to shoot them as they worked their way back through the burrows.....just watching where the ground was being pushed back up....(I lived outside the city then)..and had understanding neighbors...

Usually it's a sign that you have colonies of grubs under ground that they are feeding on...Spread a lot of Diazanon on the ground and soak it in...it will kill the grubs for several seasons and they won't be back for a while..

Grizz.

I know a guy that said to put a piece of juicy fruit gum at each of the entrances of the mole tunnels and that will take care of the moles. They can't digest the gum and then they die. my neighbor tried it and it worked and he didn't have to worry about his pets getting sick or hurt by using poison or traps.

Are they moles or voles?
Moles are big and stay mostly underground. Voles are the size of mice and spend most of their time above ground.

My mothgers neighbor was an exterminator, and she tol dme, that whenever she had a client that had moles, she would go by the local barber shop, and get a big bag of hair trimmings. The barber was all to happy to oblige her.

She would then take a handful of hair and stuff it down each hole. She said that since moles were primarily "hairless", the hair would stick to their bodies and they would rub themselves to death down in the hole.

Now, I've never tried it, but it sounded like she knew what she was talking about.

Jack, I do believe thier voles. Grizz

Do they push up piles of dirt at the entrances?
Are their tunnels just below the surface wher you can see the dirt bulging up along its length?
Or is there just a hole every so often?
OK I just watched the rodenator video and you have to get one of those. Just think of all the stuff you could blow up watermelons, cantalope, pumpkins, you could blast a bucket in the air. It sounds like fun till the cops show up.lol

They come in cycles and are gone as fast as they appear. I guess disease kills them when the population gets too high. Had a terrible infestation here a couple years ago. They actually made paths down to bare dirt through the grass in the yard. Half a dozen dead in the driveway every morning was normal. A couple months later, they were gone.

They are likely there because you have a good population of grubs, which they are feeding on. You need to get rid of their food source. Apply plenty of fertilizer that is high in nitrogen. The nitrogen fertilizer will make the soil to "hot" for the grubs.

If you have a really heavy infestation of the little buggers, buy a product called Bayer Advanced™ 24-Hour Grub Killer Plus. This is a granular product that you spread on your lawn and it will kill the grubs very quickly.
