Help locating a comparable Gerber?

Lost my favorite Gerber knife when our canoe tipped over on a recent camping trip. It was a folding knife and all I remember was that it had 650 carved into the blade near the handle. I am assuming 650 was the grade of steel. I looked on their website and I guess they do not make it anymore.

Can anyone recommend a comparable grade steel knife?

It was likely 420 steel...very common stainless steel used by most any knife maker and readily available.


The 650 is known as the Gator, per my research. The original 650 Gator is available on auction sites and such...here is a comparable replacement.

I don't have a gerber 650 but do have a couple Gaters that are ATS-34 steel and certainly prefer it over the 420 steel.
