Help w/ binocular harnesses, please.

I just purchased a pair of Nikon Monarch ATB 8x42 RealTree binoculars and I'm shopping for a decent harness. I read a review on Amazon that the Nikon ProStaff harness doesn't fit the hubs on the Monarchs(?) I'm not TOO worried about this as I can find a way to make them fit with split rings or something.

I would like to hear your opinions, however. What brand of harness do you use, why do you use them, what are the pros and cons? Thanks in advance for your guidance!...JEFF

I use the Crooked Horn Outfitters strap and bag on my Monarchs and i love them. The strap keeps the binoculars form bouncing around, and helps to steady them when your looking through them. The Bino Shield also keeps dust snow and mud off your binoculars. I highly recommended these two products. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

Crooked Horn or the ones the make for some of the big box shops are the only way to go. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Since it's 2 for 2 on Crooked Horn, I'll place my order right now for the harness and bino-shield. Thanks for your help folks!

You can buy the Crooked Horn system at Wal-Mart for $15.00.

WHAT!!!???? Dang! Thanks for the info! I'll have to look for one at WalMart and cancel my online order. I just paid about $25 for it online. Thanks, again!

I bought one from Sportsman's Warehouse for $21 - I love it.

But check out www.bruzergear.com

They had a deal where you sign up for their newsletter and just pay $7.95 for shipping and the bino harness is free?

First, I'd like to thank everyone who responded to my inquiry. That is the BEST attribute of this site; most everyone is friendly and always eager to help. I greatly appreciate you folks!

In closing, I'm going to provide a comparison/review should this issue arise for someone else in the future. I purchased 2 harnesses from different manufacturers. The Crooked Horn harness is nice without a doubt; a top-notch product. The Crooked Horn Bino-Shield is an item I'll use every time I hunt. They are great for protecting your high-dollar eyeballs. The second harness I purchased is the RedHead harness from Bass Pro Shops. I like this harness the best for several reasons: the elastic is heavier/thicker and I prefer the quick disconnect buckles on it over Crooked Horn's method. When wearing gloves, disconnecting from the RedHead was easier and quicker than with the Crooked Horn. Also, the RedHead attachment straps do not require a cable tie and split ring. The RedHead straps easily fit through the hubs on my Nikon Monarchs. So, I'll use the Crooked Horn Bino-Shield and the RedHead harness ($25) from now on; both available in camo.

BTW, I'd like to offer a quick review of my Nikon Monarch Binoculars 8x42 in RealTree. I used them twice for hunting thus far and they are very bright and very clear. By far, they are the best binocs I've ever owned. The focus knob has the perfect amount of resistance. They stay focused and are not easily bumped out. I love the twist out eyecups, but I despise the eyepiece cover. It doesn't stay put. One bump and they're off. This is why I found the Crooked Horn Bino-Shield so worth the money. Having owned 10x binocs before, I now prefer the 8x because they are easier to hold steady and allow greater light transmission (brighter baby!!!)
