So going through things and found a shotgun that I sorta forgot about. It is a Charles Daly Superior II 20 ga. O/U with 26 inch tubes. Made in Italy. Single selective gold plated trigger. Auto ejectors. Blued tubes. Fixed imp cyl under mod bores. Coin finished receiver. Made in Italy. I hunted this gun only a couple times on quail, pheasant, and bunnies. Cute, light, nimble shotgun. Anyone have any idea as to the age or value of this safe queen? Seems like decent quality but not like my old Remington O/Us.

Charles Daly is an importer, not a manufacturer. Some of the imports under their banner have been top notch high quality guns. Others less so. Charles Daly has stamped their name on Italian, Spanish and Japanese guns. No way to tell value unless you know the actual manufacturer of the gun.

The gun will most probably be a SABATTI http://www.sabatti.it/en/products/excelium-over-and-under-shotgun/
CD marketed these for a few years,80s early 90s the same gun was sold by REMINGTON for a year or so 2005 2009 ish under the name Remingtom premier they had slightly different livery on them but they were basically the same gun CD sold.
I had a Sabatti in 20ga was a 3 inch (76MM) around 28 inch barrels wood was plain but well proportioned and it handled well, overall they are a good example of a lower mid priced Italian shotgun. Price its not a Beretta 686 or a ruger red label but it is not a Baikal either its somewhere in between.

Good grief man, don't include a Red Label into the same class as a Beretta or Browning.

I have no horse in this race now but i had a Beretta 686 12ga 15 years was great, but i had Brownings and mirokus then and still do now, but for me the Berettas of today are not what they once were the quality of the wood for one thing is not what it used to be.
As for the red label i never owned one but i used one and that was a 20ga it was in my opinion one of the best handling 20ga O/Us i ever came across it was not the lightest but it suited me perfect. Now reliability i am not sure if you take notice of rumours they fall apart i have no idea on that score.

Browning has the best wood for the money. And they are proven guns of quality materials and craftsmanship. So are Beretta guns, they're bomb proof. Red Labels just can't hang in there with the B guns.
