I'm doing some work on a couple friends' AR's. They are wanting to go to a scope and get rid of the iron sights. The gas block is the mil-spec triangular style with the tapered drift pins and drift pin channels cut into the bottom of the barrel. I'm looking to replace it with a low profile style without the sight one it. One that looks like the block on the Bushmaster Varminter or Remington R15 would be nice, but I can't find one that is the drift pin style. Anyone know where to find one? Or is there a way to use a standard set screw gas block with the drift pin channels? Would I need to get a jig to make set screw indents? If so, would the drift pin channels show after the new block was installed or get in the way of the set screw indents?
