HELP!!!!!

O.K. I am finally going to be able to hunt again. I recently had a baby so this is the first chance I have since the birth. My chances are few and far between. I have gone about 15-18 times and still haven't been able to get one yet. Been able to call in 4 foxes but no coyote. Any and all tips are welcome as I only have the morning session before I have to get home to the wife and newborn.

Welcome to Predator Masters!!!

If you’re calling in fox that shows you’re doing something right. Without knowing the type of terrain you’re working, it’s hard to suggest something to help you drag in yotes.

Perhaps someone from your local area will jump in here and help you out.

In the meantime, mighty glad to have you as a member.

You don't sound like you are doing all that bad. My only thoughts.... often foxes come in a lot quicker than coyotes. Are you staying long enough???

And if you are calling that many foxes, are you in good coyote territory???

VMUTH, sounds like your not in good coyote country to me, I'll bet your hunting the hills to the east of San Diego, good cat and fox country, but not lots of coyotes, try around Ocotillo or better yet, the Salton Sea, Good luck buddy.
 
Just got back. Started at dawn and went till 11:30 a.m.. Made four stands and called in 2 FOXES AGAIN!!! Also saw a bobcat high tail it when he saw me walking in to a stand. Danny, you are right. I am calling close to Lake Morena and La Posta areas. I really don't have that much time to go out to Salton Sea but I can probably hit Ocatillo if you think my odds are better there. I always thought foxes were harder to come by but not for me, coyotes are harder to come by. I made it a point to call at each stand for 30 mins. and still no coyotes. Used a cotton tail and jack rabbit distress calls.(Electronic tapes) Any and all help is appreciated.
 
VMUTH, I know were your hunting, like I said thats gray and cat country, there are a few coyotes but not many, you need to get out of them hills for better coyote calling buddy, when you said all you was calling was grays, I knew were you were hunting, now how would I know that? I'm just lucky I guess hehehe, I think I know every rock in California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Baja and Sanora, the coyotes had wanted posters out on me in all those places years ago and I;m still hiding from em hehehe, GOOD LUCK BUDDY.
 
VMUTH, one more thing, if you find some good coyote country and you will, you don't have to make 30 min. stands, us older guys that hunt the west know coyotes don't take as long as some other critters do to respond to a call, 15 min is fine, the more stands you can make the better your chances, you don't have to believe me, but I can tell you this much, I don't work in the sporting goods dept. of Wall Mart or K Mart, hint- hint, hehehehe, GOOD HUNTING.
 
Danny, you gotta give me more info than that. I heard by more than 1 individual that you are a legend in this field. Your hunting history precedes you, from what I'm hearing, your records will be intact for many years to come. So fess up and give a little with the help. Stop being so humble and spill it. Heck, if you're embarrassed, you can e-mail me with your advice.
