high point carbine

Befor I ask this question I know it will not be fur friendly but here goes has any one used a high point carbine as a calling rig I was looking at the 40 cal with the 4x scope on it and thought to myself that it would be a fun little tool for the areas that I call in where it is very thick and rough most of all my shots are well under 100 yards any thoughts has anyone got one how do they shoot

The one i shot was a 9mm, it shot well out to about 75yds with open sights.(pop can targets) One of those (.40) should do good for close range work. blue

I also have a 9mm and have taken many yotes with it. What is the problem is ammo that expands in 9mm is very expensive. I shoot them with cheap ole fmj. They spin a bit but with 9 more shots they don't run away! It is a great little gun for up close and personal. By the way I have a red dot on mine.

I've used a 9mm carbine with a fixed 6 power scope. Called in a young male and shot him in the throat at 30 yards with speer gold dot ammo. He went down DRT. It's my favorite jack rabbit gun. I was hunting rabbits when I saw this coyote out and about so I sat up and called him in with a Dan Thompson PC-2. I've also killed 100's of rabbits with it some at 100 yard distances. The .40 S&W will definately work. Stick with the speer gold dots and call 'em close.

I use a red dot on my 40 and use speer gold dot hand loads. Its is a very accurate rifle out to 100 yards I have not shot it much past that but then again there is no reason to. It might be fur friendly I wish I could find out for sure.

I actually just sold the one i had to fund another gun purchase. I dont know if the rest of these guys just didnt shoot theres much past 100 yards or what. Mine was primarily for play and i was able to buy FMJ for mine for a little over $5 last time i bought them at Wal-Mart. I wouldnt think you would have any problems killing a coyote with one and the farthest i ever shot mine was 184 yards from my parents deck across the pond with open sights and it did very well. Kinda surprised me with such a short barrel. And we did range this with a Bushnell rangefider so no stepping it off and being close, actually 184 yards. The lifetime guarantee is definately a plus and the price. When i bought mine i gave $180 when it was all said and done but i think they are going for almost $200 now depending on where you buy it. Mine was the Model 995 9mm
