hodgdon superperformance powder in 22-250 ai, anyone tried it

I have a bunch loaded up to try in a similar cartridge with 75gr bullets. Just waiting on the rifle to get completed. Judging by the burn chart it should work well.

Superformance powder is horrible, very inconsistent from shot to shot. I too bought a couple of pounds and it has since been used as paper weight. If your looking for a good powder look to 8208 for lighter bullets and something like either IMR4350,H4350 or RL 17 for heavier bullets in the 22-250AI. Im sure there other powders as well that will work just fine, just dont use the Superformance because it Supersucks.

One caution. If your cartridge is not listed on the bottle they don't recommend you use the powder.

22-250 is not listed. It can be a bit spooky also I have seen shot to shot variation that go from acceptable pressure to way over the top pressure in the same string. Be careful and go slow.

Superformance powder is better suited for fertilizer in the garden than any use in your loading room. Ime

I just checked. You are correct.

However the 22-250 AI is not listed.

My dealings with that powder was in the 220 swift. Much closer to the 250 AI.

I had the same thought.

Yes sir,

I had a rifle custom built and got the information from the Smith on what the COAL for the gun he built with the same reamer a week before mine was.

No one knew much of anything about the cartridge so we were all starting from scratch for load data.

I think I did OK, probably because you wished me all that good luck...

I would love to have either of you share a relevant piece of your infinite wisdom on what you would have done different...
