Hog hunting in Alabama?

I made a thread in the bird hunting forum about hunting in Alabama, as I'll be there visiting family in about 2 weeks. But I realized I forgot about hogs. I'd probably prefer to hunt some hogs while down there than ducks or upland.
I'll be staying in Grand Bay, which is in the south western part of the state I believe. This would be the perfect excuse to buy the Leupold Mark AR scope I've been eyeing for my AR-15.
Anyone have any info on hog hunting in that area? Is it good? Do I need to hire a guide? Is there a season, and is it open in early February?
Info is much appreciated.

cool, thanks for the reply in the other forum too. I'm wondering if it'd be doable to go out on public land and get a hog or am i better with a guide really? If anyone from the area is willing to partner up for a hunt and maybe show me the ropes a little, that'd be awesome.

you will usally find more hogs around the river and swamps hear , If ur not use to the terrain i would get a guide or something Public land deer seasons still en an were still running dogs haven't seen much sign on public land ,the hunting pressure keep them in the swamps .
