Hog hunting with FoxPro

I'm new to this forum and I'm wanting to know if anyone has had any luck calling in hogs using their FoxPro. I recently acquired an FP FX3 and am wanting to call in hogs, if it's possible. Thanks for your help.

it is best done near bedding areas and comfort zones. The best sounds available by foxpro at this time is sow protection sound.

I haven't had any luck calling them in but it does make them freeze and look at you.

I was out archery hunting the other day shot then tried to move up on the herd again but bumped them, soon as they got up I tried sow protection then piglet distress both sounds made the whole herd stop and look which would have been easy gun shots but a little out of archery range.

I've called them in with hand calls, so a Foxpro should work. They need to be with in 200yds with handcalls, so I would guess that the same applies to e-callers.

Thanks guys. I know some areas that are supposed to hold some hogs and will let you know how the caller works. I've just got to wait until after April 17 when a season opens that will allow me to hunt on public land.
Thanks again.

I've called them a couple times when I've already been close to them when I was hunting in Texas. The last time, I saw them go into some thick mesquite from a field. I followed them in with the sow protection sound playing on my Fury tied to the back of my belt. I had a big sow come in to about 40 yards. I shot her and kept following the group. A medium sized boar came back to me and I shot him. I kept after them and another medium sized boar came back and I shot him. At that point the whole bunch spooked and left.

One other time, I could hear a herd grunting in a thicket and started the sow protection sound and had one come to the edge and I shot it. While I was waiting for the group to leave the thicket, a huge boar came charging at me from my back side. I was shooting an AR and got off a couple quick shots from about 15 feet. That turned him back into the thicket and was the last I saw of him. It is pretty ironic that I bowhunt in grizzly country and have come closer to being mauled by a hog than a grizzly.

Other than those instances, I've used the call several times and never had one come in without me being very close to them. I have had them stop after I jumped them though.

I don't get to hunt where hogs are very often but it has been a blast.
