they are great ,I will put one on nearly every gun I own that has good wood to save the wood! love the feel ,they do seem a little heavier but I haven't weighed one! I have one on my seven mag and I love it!
I have one on my Ruger 10/22. I love the feel of this stock. It really lightened the gun up with this stock and a carbon barrel not that this gun is a heavy one to start with.
I have to agree with 2muchgun. I built a .308 on a Mauser action for a friend and he supplied the Hogue stock that didn't have the aluminum bedding block.
I don't know how rigid the one with the block is, but the cheap one bends like a snake with little effort. It seemed particullarly weak in the pistol grip area.
The Hogue stocks I have had (3 to date) have been great...2 had the aluminum bedding block, and the other one I glass bedded...I highly recomend them...the worked great for me in .308, .270, and .338...
i have one on my remmy 700, with no block, its garbage, and the poi changes from shooting off the bipod, to shooting off sticks, its coming off to be replaced with a boyds shortly.
I have known a couyple guys that bought the Hogue stocks for various rifles. They seemed to like them. I didnt care for the Hogues myself. I use mostly HS stocks on most of my rifles.
My gunsmith recently ordered a Hi Tech Specialties stock to put on a 300 Win Mag that I am having built.
They are light and rigid. You would need a gunsmith to finish the hi tech stock though.
What kind of rifle are you putting the new stock on? Ron
Ugly as a Rosie ODonell look alike contest. However one of the most stable and accurate stocks I ever owned. Went from 2 inch groups in my Ruger VT lamintated stock to sub 1/2 inch groups switching to a Hogue. Rosie recommends them!!!!!!!!!!!!!
