Home made e-caller - opinions?

I just checked out the instructions for the home made e-caller on here and was wondering what you all thought about it and if it is worth doing? I figured 27-28$ to build my own and hookup my ipod seems a lot more affordable than spending 400-1000$.

I am extremely new to hunting predators and want to get my foot in the door.

I made one and called in 15 foxes within 15 yards of me within 20 seconds with mine. It was my first time out and I wanted my wife to see/shoot one. When they all came running so close she froze and did not get one shot off. It was an awesome site to see. We saw more running in from about 200 yards out. But, no matter how good/bad the caller is there has to be varmints to call in for it to work.
I would build one and if you dont like it you only wasted $30, but I love mine. I bought a little tool box and mounted the speaker on it and put everything inside the toolbox. Anything from hand calls, batteries and mp3 player and the toolbox came with a nice little handle to carry it around.
Good luck!

so if its not wireless, do you guys just keep the caller next to you? im thinkin of making one but need to know what you guys do about changing sounds/volume/turning it off for a minute. basically just need to know if you guys keep it at your side.
thanks
tommy

Can you provide more details on your setup? maybe open that case up and take some pictures please?

And some links of where to get the stuff to build it at if possible.

Can you tell me where you found that small bag? I have been looking all over for a bag that size to put my scorpion and a aux speaker in. It loks perfect. I saw the Fieldline tag on it and went to their sight but didnt see one like it??

The MP3 player and transmitter go in the bag during transport .We (my dad and I) are going to upgrade to a better Mp3 player and are always trying to improve the Caller most of the transmitting
equipment was bought off of ebay.

i just got back from radio shack and bought all the items on the predatormaster's list for the e-caller....seems everything went up in price...the cords were 4.00 ,the jack was 3.00, the speaker 24.99, then the little white amp was 15.00, and a 9v for the amp was 3.99......so with tax it ended up being $59...oh well, just wanted to let people know up to date costs for the items

I bought the same speaker you did from Radio-Shack.Mine didn`t cost that much and I bought it about 6 months ago.You could have gotten cheaper cables and a 9V elsewhere.

I didn`t how ever buy the amp, which I should have.I connected the speaker to an RCA lyra and ripped sounds from all the predator videos I have.Nothing like having Randy Anderson make those howls for you without having to pay him to sit next to you /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
