Homemade vibrating rabbit?

I hope this comes out correctly because I really have no intention of making this into a joke. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Does anyone know where I can buy a battery operated vibrating platform or ? that I can sew into a stuffed toy rabbit? I think this would help decoy in more yotes.

If all else fails, is there a reasonably priced commercial vibrating rabbit decoy on the
market. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

(I'd like to try to build my own first.)

Thanks, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

As prolific as rabbits are, they must vibrate a lot even without encouragement! Sorry, just could not resist!

Seriously, I own a "Bumble Ball" which I bought at Toys R Us.

I have not done the fur treatment yet, but it shakes enough to have baby rabbits all by itself!

I bought a bumble ball off of E-bay, stripped all of the nubs off of it, bolted on a car antenna and cut it off to about 12" (to stick in the ground). I cut open a stuffed bunny and removed some of the stuffing, sewed in a liner and a velcro strap to fasten the bunny onto the bumble ball. I've called in two coyotes while using it. The first one came in to around 75 yds. (within about 40 yds from my decoy), I missed him because I was so excited. The second yote came in to about 280 yds and circled around and busted me. I don't really have conclusive evidence that it works yet, but I thought I'd share my story. I'd post a picture but digital camera quit on me. I do have a concern about it being too loud, but havn't called enough dogs in to know yet.

I will be honest with you. You are on the right track with the decoy idea. I tried the same thing you did. I got a ball that wobbled, bought a stuffed animal rabbit. Might I add, it was a collectors item rabbit, or that is what the lady at the local hobby shop said. She freaked out, when I told her what I was planning to do with it! Anyway, I gutted the stuffed animal, sewed the ball in and tried to rig up a device to put the rabbit on. I used a 1/4 inch wooden dowel. Nothing really worked great. Really didn't get a lot of movement out of the decoy, even when I added a spring between the dowel and the rabbit. The rabbit was too heavy and it was the biggest size spring I could find. After several attempts to make this decoy more attractive to varnmints, my cousin came up and introduced me to the Predator Supreme decoy. No for the moral of my story. After a full day of calling and 3 great yote kills on video, in which the yotes came within 30 yards of us into the decoy, I gave my makeshift decoy to the dog as a playtoy, and ordered myself a Predator supreme decoy! Get you one! The difference it will make will amaze you. If you are not impressed with it, send me the decoy and I will give you your money back.

my kid's bought me the predator supreme decoy for christmas. yes they cost $40.00. put in the battery, and put on the fuzzy cover it works right out of the box. no trial and error. first day i used it. i killed a coyote that circled 10yds down wind of me. it was looking past me to the predator supreme decoy. you can buy the round decoy heart, and go through the trouble of finding a spring, attaching it, making some kind of cover, and getting a dowel rod. i have a friend who bought a decoy heart and glued turkey tail feathers to it and sits it in a plastic round bottom dog dish on the ground and kills coyotes over it. but it takes up move room in his pack.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my inquiry on decoys. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I just ordered the Predator Supreme and will look forward to great results.

RUSTYDOG,
If you hunt in the snow just get a piece of 2"x6"x6"pine. Drill two 3/8" diameter holes in it close to center. One all the way through, and one 3/4 of the way through. This way if the snow is deep, and the ground froze, you can use the 2x6x6 for a stand. If you want the decoy close to the ground, put the stick in the through hole. If you want the decoy high for visibility place the stick in the plugged hole. For the most part I place mine in the plugged hole and I sit it up on a stump or mound.
