Hornaday Reloading Scale Off

I have found my Hornaday Beam Scale is way off. Anything I can do about this other than buy a new one. I just ordered a RCBS that cost about 75.00. It seems to be off across the board but is worse at light weights.

I just watched a you tube video on the Hornady Beam Scale by Hornady Reloader. His was giving him problems and he says he set his in to Hornady and they replaced it free. Lifetime warranty! Might give them a call and see if they do the same for you.

I am going to call them this morning. Sure caused a lot of grief for me.

I know your pain. My Wife's cat knocked a can off a shelf onto my RCBS scale that I had been loading on since 1975. He then crapped in my Walnut Media. God rest his soul.

If the scale is like an rcbs, the pan hanger has small shot in it for balance. Remove or add weight to the pan hanger to get it to zero.
Also make sure the pivots are clean, dust can cause problems.

I hVe had this issue. One time with mu grandpas Pacific scale from the early 50"s. Since i live close to Grand Island, NE, i took it in with little expectation. The guy at hornady looked at it and gave me a brand new scale. That svale bbn lasted me several years and wouldnt zero a fews months back. My dad took it in and they sent it 3 miles to Alda,NE where they do all the specs on the scales. A week later my scale was fixed free of charge and works great.

They will make it right.

+1 on clean pivots. The lighter the load, the more problematic
with accuracy. I clean both upper and lower as well as using a
small amount of very light oil.
