Hornady 20 Tactical Die set

Hello,
Can anyone answer the following question for me. Will the Hornady 20 Tactical 2 die set produce a finished 20 Tac case when you run .223 brass through them? I called Hornady and no one could answer this question. Just wondering. Mr. Kindler says the Redding die set is better but I can't locate it unless he has an exclusive deal. Thanks.

I have used the Hornady 20 Tactical die to form .223 brass to 20 Tac. I normally run the .223 thru a .223 die without the expander in it to take them down slightly then size them in the 20 tac die.
Make sure you fully size them and you may get a slight crinkle in the shoulder area but that is normal and when fired it blows out. I hunted with my ammo while fire-forming as I could not tell any difference.... it shoots just fine.
Now with all that being said I had the older style Hornady dies and I kept having trouble with the spindle slipping on my decapper so I switched to the Redding but Hornady has addressed that issue and I buy Hornady now with no reservation at all.

I started my 20-Tac forming with the #1 form die, but I didn't like the way it made the shoulder... so I ran the 223 cases right into the 20-Tac FL die and got nice cases with a tiny muffin top that blew out right away.

Thanks all,
I've never reloaded yet, so this 20 Tac thing has me nervous. I figure it's a good reason to dig out my new in the box Hornady Lock and Load basic kit. It's languished for like 2 1/2 years on a shelf in the garage. Catshooter, Mike at Dtech, and Mr. Kindler all say it's not too hard. Mr. Kindler has been gracious enough to offer to teach me how to load it, since I live in Ohio too. I don't want a nice new shiny AR15 club. I take it a must have in a case trimmer, it's the one thing I've not purchased. Is there one that's a must have, or are they a Ford, Chevy, Dodge thing? I have a Sinclair catalog, Midsouth, etc, so I know a lot of the brands, just never bought one. A search of this reveals a wide range of opinions. I doubt I'll wear one out as I won't shoot tons. Thanks again to all, especially you Catshooter, you've been a big help.Rob

There are a lot of trimmers - some are cheap and some are expensive - the best all around trimmer that can grow as your learn and want to do more things, is the Forester.

I have four of them, two of them I bought 45 years ago (they have been around for a while - so have I

).

I too have a Forster but mine is more like 35 years old so they are a good purchase.
I not nearly as old as Catshooter.... he can remember when the Grand Canyon was a small ditch. I must admit I can remember when the Dead Sea was just sick.

Well, I may be,
But I got underwear with skid marks older than most of the folks on here.
