I had heard this is the greatest ammo on earth for AR's. My Colt 6920 sure seems to like it. Was also told that because the powder used is not sold retail we can not duplidate the velocity.

Well, Hornady lies. Along for the range trip today I took the Colt 6920 and a box of the Hornady ammo.

Hornady advertises a velocity of 2910 fps from a 20" barrel. From my Colt the average I saw today was about 2750 fps. This ammo must also have a crazy spread as a few cartridges registered 2850 when most others gave 2750.

I think I can load this bullet with powder that's available and hit 2750 fps any day of the week. I'll be trying as soon as I get my hands on some of the bullets.

I sure like them in my 6940 too! I stocked up in November with 1000 rnds.

There are no magic powders - you can duplicate any load if you put your mind to it.

.

You got that right about no magic powders. Someone told me that 75 gr bullet does 3100 fps, no way.

I think I may try Varget again, it did really well with the 69 gr Sierra.
