Hornady Superformance Varmint 223 Remington 35 Grain

My son has shot lots of ground squirrels with the 223 Rem, Hornady Superformance Lead Free NTX 35 gr bullets. They show 4,000 fps on the box.

The 35 gr NTX bullets shoot pretty good out of our 1-8", 1-9" and 1-10" twist barrels.

I load 223 with H335 and 40 grain VMAX the book says 3600 FPS. They shoot bug holes in my 1/8 twist. I didn't think 1/8 would work, I was wrong big time. I got room to push it faster but I'll take the win and leave it alone.

I’ve run down to 30gr bullets in my 223 with a 1-12 barrel with very surprising little groups. Shot a few fox and yotes with 35vmax with great results and no pelt damage using the 223 but my 22 hornet would damage the pelt more. Must have to do with speed some how.

35gr NTX over 27.5gr 8208xbr 3650fps (group "C"). Savage 223 Rem 12FV 1:9 twist. This was load development testing powder charges.
