Houge full length bedding block

All cons, no pros. hey are bedder than the regular Hogue, but that's kind of like saying that Gonorrhea is better than Syphilis.

Even a Boyds would be a considerable upgrade.

Yes.
I think they are the only stock I really hate.

Worse than the crap thats coming out on Remington, Savage and Rugers? Seems a wallowed out 2x4 would be better than that junk. And yes, a Boyds would be better.

(Referring to the stocks on the budget guns)

Probly no worse.
I just hate the rubberized covering on the Hogue.

I have had very, very good success with the full length bedding block stocks. The bedding block is milled perfect for the Remington, Winchester, and Ruger stocks that they have been put in.

The full length bed is a very, very rigid stock.

Last one that I put together was a Remington 7 Mag factory rifle, sporter. I put it in a Long action Hogue, full length bedding block stock, and the rifle shot 3/8" first time to the rifle range.

I have not tried the standard stock with only the pillars in it.

Here are the particulars

Ruger 77 Mark II in 223
Ruger 77 Mark II in 270
Remington 308 Varmint
Remington 7 mag sporter in a heavy barrel stock
Winchester model 70 in 308 and 7 Mag

This is not a huge sampling, but these rifles shoot very, very good, not EVEN bedded!!!

The Hogue with the full length bedding block is not a light weight stock if you are going in that direction. These are hunting rifles and they get beat up a lot, and the hogue takes a licking.

You have to like the rubber coating, but underneath, there is a very high quality hard fiberglass shell.

If you are a tactical shooter, the Hogue is a very, very rigid stock for putting a bi pod on.

I had rather have the Hogue with the full length bedding block a bunch of other alternatives.

Having said this, My favorite is the Boyd's laminate with the 22 lines per inch checkering.

I have tried Hogue, twice. I can not like them. Ergonomics are terrible...the rubber coating seems to slide around on the base material. The wrist on them are absolutely terrible.

Stocky's has some very nice polymer stocks that are very nicely priced. Or go with a Boyd's...they're not terrible but do require quite a bit of work to get them right. Pillars, skim bed and likely there will be some fitment issues.

Im another one who doesnt like the feel of the houge stock but I've had great luck with other stocks with the full length aluminum bedding block. The ones I have used are bell/carlson,HS precision, and one from stockys with a Bobby Hart v block aluminum bedding block(really liked the vblock idea). All mine have been drop in torque action and forget it installations.

Yep, me too.
I like the HS as much as I dislike the Hogue.
Every one I’ve owned has worked great.

The bedding block in the hogue is machined much better than the last couple of HS that I have had.

I have had fantastic luck in terms of accuracy with the FULL LENGTH bedding block hogues, I really like the greenish color, and like the rubbery feel as I can get a better grip on it in inclement weather.

The bedding block in the hogue goes from the tang to within ONE Inch of the tip of the forearm....stout and rigid forearm.
