As spring progresses I start to use alot of pup whines.  Seems to work.  Even if they haven't had pups yet the maternal instinct kicks in and they come rolling.  I haven't had much luck with distress calls in my area once spring hits.  Once I start finding grasshopper parts and plant material in scat I pretty much give up for the year.
